Mr R P started the topic Next PPS online Zoom meeting – June 23 in the forum PPS Members Forum 4 years, 5 months ago
A reminder that the next online PPS meeting will be on the 23rd – Zoom details below.
Again, rather than a formal agenda, let’s repeat the ‘favourites’ formula of the last meeting. I would suggest that all are welcome to present/discuss one (or a couple, time permitting) favourite items from your collection – doesn’t have to be rare or unique,…[Read more]

Mr Frank J. Wilson started the topic New Guinea 1935 Forged FDC in the forum PPS Members Forum 4 years, 5 months ago
Whilst in Lockdown I came across a page from a collection that stated that one of the most common forged FDCs from New Guinea is the 1935 Jubilee plain brown envelopes with just the 1d & 2d stamps with Rabaul postmarks. The covers are addressed to J. D. Harris and Son, Birmingham. The postmarks look genuine. Does anyone know the history behind…[Read more]

Mr R P started the topic May issue of PNG Calling now in the post – but…….. in the forum PPS Members Forum 4 years, 5 months ago
The May issue on PNG Calling (No 286) is now in the postal system – but….one can only guess when your printed copy may show up. Mail posted 6 weeks ago from Australia to the US is still ‘in transit’ so please be patient. In the meantime, everyone with an email address should have already received the e-version (hard to miss with that bright…[Read more]

Mr R P started the topic PPS Auction – Lot 197 in the forum PPS Members Forum 4 years, 6 months ago
Here’s a bit more info on that cover (auction listing only allow for limited text)Cover with 5d green Declaration to Scotland. Bwagaoia cds (Lee 86) 15 NO38 (odd but standard gap between the ‘3’ and ‘8’. The address looks to be an inked stamp, suggesting a philatelic item (though did go through the post, so a genuine postally used cover).…[Read more]

Mr R P started the topic Next PPS Online meeting scheduled for June 23 – details below in the forum PPS Members Forum 4 years, 6 months ago
The Zoom meeting yesterday (evening in Oz, early morning east coast N. America, lunchtime UK) was a very pleasant session – good group of members, varied and interesting material on display and lively conversation.
By common agreement, there was a call for a follow up and this has been scheduled as:
Topic: richard@muller.id.au‘s Zoom…[Read more]

Following yesterdays most enjoyable first PPS Zoom meeting hosted by Richard, who did a great job, it became apparent that I am not as smart as I thought I was, and I now believe my wife when she calls me a deaf old f—t. However hopefully I will be able to rectify this.
Thankfully there were some Tech Savvy people on board, however maybe s…[Read more]

The very first online PPS meeting is been scheduled for Tues, May 19. I’m not sure how many people may tune in but we’ll give it a try and see what happens. This will be done via Zoom – lots of info/instructions in recent posts.
The meeting is planned for 9pm Sydney time – see how that translates with other time zones, such as:
7AM NY

Mr R P started the topic Online PPS meeting – any interest? in the forum PPS Members Forum 4 years, 6 months ago
Not much interest in the offer of an online PPS meeting – not sure if that’s because members don’t have access to Zoom – or too busy writing up their collection while in lockdown – or……
Anyway, last call, so if anyone has any interest (as mentioned, date and time are just options for consideration) please reply or contact me directly on:…[Read more] -

For those not familiar with Zoom, here are some good intro videos – and a link to their site (ps – I have no financial interest in them!)

Richard,
Count me in.
9pm Sydney time is fine. Could even do a 10pm start, if Steve wants to sleep in!

It’s been suggested that our current environment (and strange times they are indeed!) is an ideal time to try an online PPS meeting. At this point, there is no agenda or plan – this is just to gauge interest.
The thought was to use Zoom to join together. If you have used it, you’ll know it’s an easy app to manage and perfect for this suggested…[Read more]

For those not familiar with the Hialeah Forgeries, here’s some more background information. Definitely an oddity and truly very very back-of-book!
A full sheet of the (in)famous ‘Hialeah Forgeries’ (that’s Hialeah, Florida USA – same location as the famous racetrack). These were produced by a ‘Juan Canoura’ (ebay seller know as ‘atdinvest’…[Read more] -

The 2020 PPS Auction is now online, managed and curated by Frank Wilson (UK). There is a massive selection of 234 lots with a wide selection of classic material. Plus, Frank has gone to huge effort to include an image for every single lot (eat you hearts out, professional auction houses!).
